Wells Training in Ivory Coast

After 2 years of planning, construction and development, in May, we embarked on a new addition to the well drilling ministry – the opening of a ministry training centre with a focus on combining evangelism and water projects.

Mark was thrilled to host and train a team put together by one of our partner missions, Reach Beyond, made up of 12 national pastors and Christian ministry workers came from Ghana, Ivory Coast, Togo and Benin.

Over 10 days Friends in Action N Ireland and Reach Beyond trained these men on:

• installation and repair of India MK-II hand pumps,
• how to assess a well’s potential through a pumping test and
• how to successfully manage contract drillers.

Alongside the well training, the participants received Bible training and considered ways to build relationships and evangelise across a range of cultures using water projects as an outreach tool.

The training concluded with a 3 hour long challenging practical exam.   All men graduated and were excited to be returning home equipped and ready to help improve water supplies in the communities where they serve.
